Letter to Rula Al-Kawalek

Dearest Rula,

I pray that you are at rest and in peace right now. I can only imagine how sweet you were to the people around you. You were a true blessing to your family and the world. I want you to know that there are millions of people who are fighting for peace on the Israel-Gaza strip. There will be a time that comes where little boys and girls such as yourself can live in peace and for harmony in your country. Your life had so many chapters left in it and it is heartbreaking to think that you are no longer here to live those chapters. However, know that you are one of the chosen ones. You were taken away from the violence and chaos to lay in peace escaping further trauma. You are brave. You are strong. You are resilient. I wish you to be reconnected with your deceased loved ones where you can come together as a family again.

To conclude, here is a poem for you to keep with you in your place of rest and to calm your mind of any fears or worries you left this earth with:

A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam, and for a

brief-moment its glory and beauty belong to our world:

but then it flies again. And though we wish it could

have stayed, we feel so lucky to have seen it.

Sending you an immense amount of love,

Mikayla ❤
